Sleding in the snow - Deslizandonos en la Nieve

Hola amigos espero que han estado bien. Hoy tuve un dia muy divertido con mis companeros en MT HOOD. Estuvimos deslizandonos por dos horas y tuvimos una pelea de nieve. Usualmente en mi programa organizan este tipo de actividad una vez por ano. Este tipo de actividades son muy divertidas porque compartimos al mismo tiempo nuevas experiencias, lo que quiero decir es que nosotros no estamos acostumbrados a ver mucha nieve, por eso todos en mi programa compartimos las mismas experiencias.

Le quiero compartir unas fotos que pude tomar en Mt. Hood donde fuimos esta manana. Cuando estuve alli estuve pensando sobre mi familia y algunas personas, porque ellos nuncan a visto la nieve y le di gracias a Dios por este lindo dia que el me dio. A veces nosotros no nos damos cuentan todo lo que Dios ha hecho en nuestras vidas apesar que somos Cristianos, nos olvidamos muchas veces cosas que para nosotros son singnificante pero otros desean estas cosas. Los animo mis amigos a que le den Gracias a Dios por todo y que estemos alerta a las batallas contra nuestras peleas con el Diablo.

Hi my friends I hope you have been good. Today I had a fun day with my classmates en Mt. Hood. We were sledding for two hours and we had a snow ball fight. Usually in my program organizes this type of activity once per year. Those kinds of activities are very fun because we shared our new experience at the same time, what I mean is that we aren’t accustomed to see a lot of snow; therefore everybody in my program share the same experiences.

I want to share some pictures that I could take in Mt. Hood where we went this morning. When I was there I was thinking about my family and some people, because they ever seen snow and I gave thanks to God for this awesome day that he gave me. Sometimes we don’t realize everything that God has done in our lives, although we are Christians we forget several things that for us aren’t significant but for other people are significant. I encourage you to give thanks to God for everything and to be alert with the temptation of the Devil.

We had a short class of Rock Wall - Tuvimos una corta classe de Rock Wall

El dia de ayer tuvimos una pequena clase para escalar paredes o colinas. Fue una gran experiencia que tuvimos porque la mayoria de nostros no habiamos tenido este tipo de deporte en nuestros paises. Es muy dificil subir en esas paredes porque se necesita mucha fuerza para soportar nuestro propio peso.

In English:

Yesterday we had a short class about how to climb walls and cliffs . It was a great experience that we had because most of us haven't had this kind of sport in our country. It is very difficult to climb walls because we need to have a lot of strength to bear our own weight.

Mi servicio comunitario - My community service

Pues el dia de ayer sabado tuve mi servicio comunitario en un museo Forestal que esta in la cuidad de Portland, City. En mi programa usualmente tengo que hacer un dia de serivicio comunitario por mes. ayer estuve encargado de una area del museo donde tenia que explicar a los grupos de ninos que ivan llegando, estuvo muy divertido y cansado porque estuve parado por muchas horas.

Para llegar a este museo tenia que usar el Max por una hora, despues del museo, fui a una centro comercial en la cuidad y estuve viendo que todo esta caro. Y despues yo tenia que ir a una actividad de una familia anfitriona porque tenia que ayudarles guiando el programa, el motivo de la actividad era recaudar dinero para que la familia pueda ir de Mision. Mis companeros hicieron unos bailes culturales, tocaron intrumentos y cantaron. Me gusta estos tipos de actividades porque estas personas quieren ayudar y servir a Dios en otro pais que necesita, y pues he visto los sacrificios que ellos tienen que hacer para ir a mission.

In English:

Well, yesterday I had my community service in a museum forestry that it’s in Portland, City. In my program I usually do a day of community service per month. Yesterday I was responsible of one area of the museum where I had to explain to the groups of kids, It was very fun and tired because I stood up for many hours.

To reach to the museum I had to ride the Max train for an hour and then I went to a mall in the city just for looking around and everything was expensive. And Then I had to go to an activity of a host family because I had to help guide the program (MC), the reason for the activity was to raise money for this host family can go to Mission. My classmates did some cultural dances, played instruments and sang. I love these types of activities because these people want to help and serve God in another country that need their help and I’ve seen the sacrifices that they have to do and then to go to mission.

Mi Familia en zacapa ( My family in zacapa )

Me siento triste que no puedo estar en zacapa con mi familia, porque mi madre ahorita no esta trabajando y necesita a alguien para ayudarla con los egresos de la casa. La economia en Guatemala es muy mala. A veces me siento inutil porque no puedo trabajar aqui para ayudar a mi familia, pero yo confio en Dios... el protegera mi familia.

A todos ustedes les pido por sus oraciones para mi familia en zacapa y por mi para que pueda tener exito aqui en USA. No ha sido facil estar aqui, pero lo hago porque es la voluntad de Dios y por el futuro de mi familia.

In English:

I feel sad that I can’t be in Zacapa with my family because my mother is not working right now and she needs someone to help with the spending of the house. The economy in Guatemala is very bad. Sometimes I feel useless because I cannot work here to help my family but I trust in God ... he is going to take care my family.

To all of you I ask for your prayers for my family in Zacapa and to be succeed here in the USA. It’s not easy to be here, but I do it because it’s the will of God and my family's future.

Costumbres Americanas ( American Customs )

Mi amigos quiero compartir un pocoquito sobre mis experiencias en esta cultura, asi como nosotros en Guatemala tenemos actividades culturales, ellos tambien tienen sus proprias actividades culturales por ejemplo Halloween is un dia de feriado celebrado el 31 de Octubre, la raizes de festival Celtico of Samhain y tambien a feriado de los muertos y del dia de los Santos. Es una gran celebración secular, pero algunos Cristianos y Paganos han expresado un fuerte sentimiento en estas actividades religiosas. El dia de accion de Gracias usualmente en USA la mayoria de las personas lo celebrant juntandose con la familia o amigos para una fiesta.

En la navidad ellos hacen muchas actividades en la iglesia como posadas, conciertos y ellos celebran la Navidad el dia 25 de diciembre y nosotros lo celebramos la noche del 24 de diciembre. Ellos no queman cuetes para navidad pero para el Ano nuevo algunos si queman pero no es muy comun, ellos solo queman cuetes en el dia de la independencia. Para el dia de ano nuevo estuve en Lynnwood, WA con la familia Impola y para la noche del 31 fuimos a ver un show de Juegos pirotecnicos de la torre Space Needle en la cuidad de Seattle, WA.

Es muy interesante estar aqui, he estado observando la cultura. En esta pais las personas viven apresuradas, siempre tienen un plan para el dia, ellos son muy puntuales para todo. Su estilo de vida es muy diferente a nuestro estilo de vida.

IN ENGLISH:
My friends I want to share a little bit about my experiences in this culture, as we have in Guatemala Culture activities, they have their own Cultures activities such as: Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration, but some Christians and Pagans have expressed strong feelings about its religious overtones. Thanksgiving usually in USA most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast.

In Christmas they make a lot of activities in the church such as Christmas Caroling, Christians Concerts and they celebrate just the Christmas day on December 25th and we celebrate it the night on December 24th. They don’t burn fireworks for Christmas but for New Year some people burn it, but is now very common; they just burn fireworks on Independence Day. For New Year I was in Lynnwood, WA with Impolas’ family and in the night of 31th we went to see a Fireworks show of Space Needle in Seattle, WA.

It’s very interesting to be here, I’ve been observing the culture. In this country the people live in a hurry, they always have a plan for the day, they are so punctual for everything. Their lifestyle is very different than ours.

Tengo un examen manana - I have a Test tomorrow

I am very tired because I have been studying during the night. It is very stressful to study in other language, the exam of tomorrow I have to explain themes in English. Friends I ask all you for your prayers, I need a lot of his prayers; many people think that I am in the paradise but is not true, I came here to study.

In English:

Estoy muy cansado porque he estado estudiando durante en la noche. Es muy estresante estudiar en otro idioma, el examen de manana tengo que explicar temas en ingles. Amigos les pido que oran por mi, necesito mucho de sus oraciones; muchas personas piensan que estoy en el paraiso pero no es verdad, yo vine aqui a estudiar.
