Navidad - Christmas

Feliz Navidad mis queridos amigos y mi famllia.

Mi viaje al Estado de Minnesota - My trip to Minnesota

As you might know I have been in my winter break. Thanks to the Lord I had the opportunity to travel to Cokato, Minnesota. Friday December 18th I departed to Minneapolis, MN; but first I switched plane in Salt Lake city, Utah. The first days I stayed with the family of my friend Sven Johansson; they were very nice family while I was staying at their place.

I was for one Sunday at the Apostolic Lutheran church in Kingstown, MN. It was a pleasure to be there and to be able to meet such as nice people. I also had the opportunity to visit my friend mari for less than a day and I went to visit the family of my friend Pablo Salguero. During my time there it was snowing which was fun for me because I wanted a white Christmas.

So the last days I was staying with Beth Orwal and Jay Wirkkala. I really had awesome moments with them; they were like I was part of their family. My friend Orwal Wirkkala is the pastor of Kingstown’s church and also he is Lynn’s dad who is as a missionary in Guatemala.

It was a blessed trip, as we always say “we never stop learning” because in this trip I learned something. It does no matter where I go, the spirit of Jesus is always with me. Thanks to my friends I have learned a lot about the word of God. December 24th Kingstown’s church had a Christmas program and they asked if I could sing a Christmas song. So Jay Wirkkala played the guitar, Jenny Johansson and I sang “I come to tell you” in Spanish. It was a blessed night to be able to be together and celebrate the Birth of our Savior Jesus. How beautiful is to be a Christian because we are blessed in many ways but something that we receive when we accept Jesus as our Savior is The Salvation. The word Salvation is very vey meaningful in our lives.

Right now I’m in plane writing a little bit about the moments that I had during my break in Minnesota. Every time that I fly in a plane, I think of my family, friends from Guatemala because I would like them to be able to have this experience; truly I AM blessed. Right now I’m going back to Portland, OR, but first I’m going to switch plane in LA, California.

Thank you for praying! I’ll be writing more about what I have been doing lately! (Hope so).

Pot Luck & Gift Exchange

Two weeks ago we had a party with my program for Christmas. Every country cooked a traditional dish… so we had 11 different traditional dishes. The reason of the party was to get together and enjoy our break after of a difficult term. We did a gift exchange but first of the exchange two weeks before of the party each person had a secret friend who was the person that was going to receive a gift. So whi

le the two weeks we were giving cards, chocolates, candies and much more to the secret friend.

It has been a big blessing to share with people from other countries. At this party I ate as never I had eaten; I only could try a little bit of 9 countries. I think my favorite dishes that I liked the most were the Peruvian, Haitian and Dominican dishes.

Todavia estoy haciendola, no he terminado. Dele Click Aqui.

I’m sorry my friends because almost a month that I couldn’t post on my blog. Since I started my second year of school I have been pretty busy. I’ve been doing a lot of projects such as right now I’m doing a study of Beaver Creek Watershed which is where I live. One month ago the fall started, the trees don’t have trees already. Lately it’s been cold, like 5 degrees centigrade which for a Zacapaneco is very cold.Last week I went to the Zoo because I had to study the mammals that inhabit in the Oregon Zoo. For the first time I saw a polar bear and a sea lion. I just thank God of such opportunity, to know and learn things that in Guatemala I would never learned. The upcoming week there will not be classes because is the Thanksgiving week in the United States.

Something that I’ve been working on is a website about the beauty of Guatemala. I would like you to take a look at it so that you can tell what things I could change or to give me some ideas to improve it. I’m still working on it; I haven’t finished it yet. Click Here.

Thank you my friends for your prayers! Thank you also for those who have been asking me when I was going to post in the blog. May God Bless you!

Lo ultimo - The latest

Hola!

Gracias.

Hi! I hope you are fine. Two weeks ago I started my new year of school. It already started the fall, the leaves’ colors are changing; it is very amazing what the Lord have done for us on the earth. I’m taking 5 classes (16 credits). I like the classes; God has helped me out with the obstacles ahead.

I want to confess that lately I have tried to understand that the Lord’s time is not the same than our time. We’ve heard that but, it’s difficult to really understand it. The last month was one of the most difficult months for me because there were things that happened which I wasn’t expecting and now I ask myself why those things happen. It is very difficult not knowing the reason why those things happen; but I trust on God, I just have to move on. Another thing we must wait on the Lord, what blessings there are for those who wait on the Lord. I have learned that I can’t by myself; the only way I can do it is with his help.

Ayer I talked to my family. I’m happy that my sisters are doing ok. But my mom is sick, few days ago she found out she has problems with her bones (lack of calcium) and as well problems with her intestines but we don’t know what kind of disease she has in her intestines yet. My mom is a big example for the World for many reasons that you might know. She worked for my future and keeps working for my sister’s future. I’d like to share with you all the sacrifices she has done for us, but I don’t have a lot of time to write all that.

Friends, please pray for my family specially and for me. All those months to come I will be busy, I need your prayers.

Thank you!
